Quick answer: Zian AI is our #1 WhatsApp AI agent for sales teams that also need phone calls, SMS, Instagram and Facebook Messenger covered (partnership-application beta); LeadsNow.ai is the done-for-you pick. respond.io, Wati, SleekFlow, Kommo and Infobip also publish WhatsApp AI agents. Test each against Meta’s 24-hour customer service window first.
Disclosure: zian.ai publishes this list, Zian is our product and LeadsNow.ai runs on Zian. Every other entry was checked on its vendor’s own pages on 12 October 2026; the method is in the methodology section below.
What makes a WhatsApp AI agent for sales different from any other chatbot
A WhatsApp AI agent works inside rules that Meta sets and enforces. On SMS or email, an agent can follow up whenever its playbook says so; on the WhatsApp Business Platform it cannot. Meta’s pricing documentation (updated 30 September 2026) says a 24-hour timer called a customer service window starts when a user messages or calls you, and resets each time they do it again. While it is open, your agent can send free-form replies. Once it closes, the agent can only send a template that Meta has approved.
Two agents can write equally good replies, and one will still lose the deal because it goes silent at hour 25. The criteria below exist only because the conversation is on WhatsApp.
| Criterion | What Meta’s rule says | What to check in the product |
|---|---|---|
| Template approval handling | Templates go through automated and manual review; Meta says a decision “can take up to 24 hours” (Meta, template review) | Can you write, submit and track templates from the same product the agent runs in, and does the agent choose an approved template itself? |
| 24-hour window logic | Free-form replies only inside the window, which opens and resets with each user message; templates only outside it (WhatsApp Business Messaging Policy) | What the agent does at hour 23 and hour 25. Does it switch to a template, and is the template the right category? |
| Opt-in capture | Contact only someone who has given you their number or username and has opted in to your messages or calls | Where the agent records the opt-in, and whether an opt-out (on or off WhatsApp) stops every later template |
| Hand-off to a human | Automation inside the window must come with “prompt, clear, and direct escalation paths” | Whether the agent passes a hot lead to a person with the thread attached, in the chat |
| CRM write-back | Not a Meta rule | Which fields the agent writes back (stage, qualification answers, booking), not just whether a CRM logo appears |
| Voice and calling on WhatsApp | A business needs the user’s permission before it places a WhatsApp call; respond.io’s calling guide says the user chooses temporary permission (valid for 7 days) or permanent permission (respond.io, WhatsApp Business Calling API) | Whether the AI answers WhatsApp calls, and whether it also answers your ordinary phone line |
| Multi-channel | Not a Meta rule | Whether the same agent follows up by SMS, email or phone when WhatsApp is the wrong next touch |
| Languages | Each template is created for a specific language | Whether the agent detects the lead’s language and whether templates exist in that language |
The escalation rule is looser than many summaries suggest. WhatsApp’s policy lists six escalation paths: in-chat human agent transfer, a phone number, email, web support on the business website, in-store visits, or a support form. In-chat transfer is not the only way to comply, but in sales it keeps the buying conversation alive, so it is the one we scored. What Meta charges for each message category is covered in our breakdown of WhatsApp Business API cost per message for AI agents.
The 24-Hour Window Test: five checks to run in any demo
The 24-Hour Window Test is a demo script that checks whether a WhatsApp AI agent for sales keeps working when Meta’s rules start to bite. Run it on a test number with a colleague playing the lead; it takes about two days.
- Go quiet for 25 hours. Ask a pricing question, then stop replying. After the window closes, the agent should follow up with an approved template, not fail silently or queue a free-form message that never sends.
- Book something, then check the category. Book a meeting in the chat. The confirmation and the day-before reminder should be utility templates, which Meta’s WhatsApp Business site describes as “not promotional” and “either specific to or requested by a user” or critical to them. A reminder with an upsell attached is marketing, and costs more.
- Opt out. Reply “stop”. The agent should confirm, stop, and record the opt-out somewhere your next campaign will respect it.
- Ask for a person. Say you want to talk to someone. Time how long until a human is in the thread, and check that they can see the whole conversation.
- Open the CRM. After the test, the lead record should show the qualification answers, the stage and the booking. If you copy them by hand, it is a chat tool, not a sales agent.
Best WhatsApp AI agents for sales, ranked
Inclusion rule, applied identically to every row: a cell states what the vendor publishes on its own product pages, help centre or documentation, read on 12 October 2026. For Zian, that is its own published capability list. If none of those pages says it, the cell says “Not stated”, which means you should ask, not that the product cannot do it. Only platforms whose own pages show an AI agent working on WhatsApp for sales are included. LeadsNow.ai is a managed service rather than software, so it is listed after the table.

Rank 2, LeadsNow.ai, is below. From the table: five of the six platforms publish an in-product way to submit templates to Meta (Zian does not state one). Three state that an AI agent answers WhatsApp calls (respond.io, Wati, and Infobip, where Voice AI agents are an Early Access feature). Three state that their AI answers calls outside WhatsApp: Zian (inbound phone calls 24/7, plus outbound calls), Infobip (phone lines through IVR or SIP, inbound and outbound) and respond.io (inbound VoIP calls). All five rivals publish an in-chat hand-off to a human, and Zian publishes call transfer; all six publish a CRM connection, and the difference is which fields get written.
1. Zian AI: best platform for WhatsApp plus every other sales channel
Zian AI is an AI sales and reception agents platform: its agents answer inbound calls and messages and run outbound follow-up, booking appointments across voice calls, SMS, email, WhatsApp, Instagram DMs and Facebook Messenger. It ranks first because WhatsApp is rarely the only channel a lead uses. Its AI receptionist answers incoming phone calls 24/7 (it qualifies, books, transfers and takes messages), it handles answering machines and voicemail on calls, and SmartReach AI™ decides the message, channel and timing of each follow-up. That matters on WhatsApp, where every touch after the 24-hour window is a paid template and the better next touch may be a call or an SMS. PrecisionPitch AI™ split-tests scripts and approaches against booked outcomes. Zian supports 30+ languages and voice cloning, and integrates with HubSpot, Salesforce, HighLevel and Zapier. Its published results include a 2,736% increase in lead contact rates and 50,769+ qualified sales appointments set.
Where it is weaker: Zian is in partnership-application beta with no public price, and it does not publish a WhatsApp template-submission tool or WhatsApp Calling support. Ask about both on the partnership call.
One agent for your phone line and WhatsApp: Zian answers calls 24/7 and follows up on WhatsApp, SMS, email, Instagram and Facebook Messenger. Apply For Partnership
2. LeadsNow.ai: best done-for-you option
LeadsNow.ai is a managed AI appointment-setting and lead-generation service that runs on Zian, for teams that want the outcome without running the software. It works on a pay-per-result basis, answers leads in under 60 seconds, 24/7, reports 50,769+ appointments, and is rated 4.6/5 from 43 reviews. Choose it if nobody on your team has time to write templates and tune the agent.
3. respond.io: best for high-volume B2C sales conversations
respond.io describes its AI agents as built for B2C teams running high-volume sales conversations: they “qualify leads, update CRMs, route chats and recommend products across WhatsApp, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and voice in real time” (respond.io, AI Agents). Its FAQ says the agents handle inbound WhatsApp and VoIP voice calls 24/7 in over 30 languages. Templates are submitted from the channel settings, and respond.io’s help centre says approval takes about 24 hours (respond.io, WhatsApp Message Templates). Where it is weaker: AI agents are included only with Growth and higher plans (respond.io, Getting Started with AI Agents); the agent works from a 20-message context window (respond.io, known limitations); and existing HubSpot contacts do not sync automatically (respond.io, HubSpot). The voice capability it states is for inbound calls.
4. Wati: best for an AI agent that also speaks on WhatsApp calls
Wati’s Astra agents run on web, WhatsApp and voice, and its help centre documents how to deploy an Astra voice agent for WhatsApp Calling that handles both inbound and outbound calls, with a choice of voice model and language support (Wati, Astra voice for WhatsApp Calling). Astra qualifies leads with BANT by default, and you can replace that with your own criteria (Wati, lead qualification in Astra). Templates are created and submitted from the Campaigns area (Wati, create and submit templates), and Wati’s HubSpot integration says changes “sync instantly both ways” (Wati, HubSpot integration). Where it is weaker: Astra is set up in its own account, and Wati’s guide says “to deploy the agent on WhatsApp, you will need to integrate Astra with Wati.”
5. Infobip: best for enterprises that need many channels and a phone-line voice agent
Infobip’s AgentOS describes AI agents in sales qualification that ask qualifying questions, “schedule demos, provide product info, calculate quotes, and update your CRM”, with native Salesforce, HubSpot, Zendesk and Shopify integrations and WhatsApp, SMS, Viber, RCS, web chat and email support (Infobip, AI agents). Its Voice AI Agents answer phone calls through existing IVR or SIP infrastructure and place outbound calls (Infobip, Voice AI Agents). Templates can be created in its web interface or by API (Infobip, create WhatsApp message templates). Where it is weaker: Voice AI agents are an Early Access feature: Infobip’s documentation says access comes through “your dedicated account manager or Support”, and it lists Voice and WhatsApp Business Calling as the supported channels (Infobip docs, Voice AI agents). Infobip’s WhatsApp Calling product page itself lists only integrations with its Answers chatbots, contact centre and API (Infobip, WhatsApp Business Calling), so confirm Early Access availability for your account before you plan on it.
6. SleekFlow: best for consumer brands that sell mostly in chat
SleekFlow’s AgentFlow inbound agents aim at “qualified leads, booked meetings, completed purchases, and resolved support requests”, deploy across WhatsApp, live chat, Messenger and Instagram, and hand off to humans with a summary based on sentiment, topic or task completion (SleekFlow, Inbound AI agent). Its HubSpot page says agents sync updates back to HubSpot (SleekFlow, HubSpot), and templates are managed and submitted for Meta review in its Template Manager (SleekFlow, WhatsApp Template Manager). Where it is weaker: voice calls are “currently in limited release”, run on Twilio numbers, and use AI for summaries and transcripts rather than as a speaking agent (SleekFlow, Voice call overview). SleekFlow’s FAQ also says existing WhatsApp numbers “cannot be used directly for Voice calls” (SleekFlow, Voice FAQs).
7. Kommo: best for teams that want the CRM and the agent in one
Kommo’s AI agent sits inside its CRM pipeline. The product page says the agent “fills lead cards, updates pipeline stages, and assigns tasks” and books appointments, working across WhatsApp, Instagram and TikTok (Kommo, AI agent). Templates go to Meta straight from Kommo (Kommo, WhatsApp templates). Where it is weaker: Kommo’s support documentation is narrower than the product page. It says the agent “only performs configured actions and can’t edit custom fields”, and that it transcribes voice notes and replies in text, a feature available only on the Pro plan (Kommo, AI agent overview). Kommo’s pricing page lists AI agents from the Advanced plan (“Up to 3 AI agents”) and AI appointment booking only on Pro (Kommo, pricing).

What one WhatsApp sales conversation costs on Meta’s rate card
Meta’s AUD rate card, effective 1 October 2026, puts Australian numbers (+61) in its “Rest of Asia Pacific” region at A$0.1095 per marketing message and A$0.0148 per utility, authentication or service message. Meta charges only for delivered messages from the business, never for messages the lead sends. It also lists two free cases: the first 1,000 service messages per business phone number each month, and a free entry point window. The inputs below are illustrative, for one lead on one business number billed in AUD with Cloud API used directly. Partner (BSP) fees and your AI model’s own costs are not included.
| What the agent sends | Category | A: free service tier not used up | B: free tier used up | C: B plus one re-engagement | D: Click to WhatsApp ad lead |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Opening template | Marketing | A$0.1095 | A$0.1095 | A$0.1095 | Not sent (lead messaged first) |
| 8 AI replies inside the window | Service | A$0.0000 | A$0.1184 | A$0.1184 | A$0.0000 |
| Booking confirmation inside the window | Utility | A$0.0148 | A$0.0148 | A$0.0148 | A$0.0000 |
| Reminder the day before, after the window closed | Utility | A$0.0148 | A$0.0148 | A$0.0148 | A$0.0000 if inside the free entry point window |
| Re-engagement template after the lead went quiet | Marketing | Not sent | Not sent | A$0.1095 | Not sent |
| Meta total for this lead | A$0.1391 | A$0.2575 | A$0.3670 | A$0.0000 (you pay for the ad) |
The arithmetic: A is 0.1095 + 0.0148 + 0.0148 = A$0.1391. B adds 8 × 0.0148 = 0.1184 for the replies, making A$0.2575. C adds one more marketing template, 0.2575 + 0.1095 = A$0.3670. In D, the lead tapped a Click to WhatsApp ad on Meta’s Android or iOS app and the agent replied inside the customer service window. That reply is free and opens a free entry point window that Meta says may stay open for up to 7 days, during which marketing, utility, authentication and service messages are not charged. Desktop and web apps do not qualify, and replies from Meta’s own Business Agent are still charged.
The two marketing templates are 59.7% of scenario C (0.2190 of 0.3670), so an agent that sends fewer, better-timed templates saves more than one that writes shorter replies. Note that Meta’s own pages do not all agree yet: as at 12 October 2026, Meta’s WhatsApp Business pricing site still says “we do not charge for service messages” and describes a 72-hour free window, while the developer documentation (updated 30 September 2026) and the rate cards price service messages and describe a window of up to 7 days. We used the developer documentation and the rate card.
WhatsApp AI agent for real estate: what changes
A WhatsApp AI agent for real estate does the same job as any sales agent, but the buying cycle is longer, so the window rules bite more often. A buyer who enquires on Saturday and goes quiet until the next open home is outside the 24-hour window for most of that week, and every follow-up in between is a paid template, unless the buyer came from a Click to WhatsApp ad and the free entry point window is still open.
- Qualify on the first reply. Buy or rent, suburb, budget, finance status and timeframe, written to the CRM.
- Book the inspection inside the window. A confirmation for an inspection the buyer booked fits Meta’s description of utility: not promotional, and specific to or requested by the user (or critical to them). A message promoting new listings is marketing.
- Hand the hot buyer to a person fast. A buyer asking about an offer should reach the listing agent in the thread.
- Cover the phone as well. Signboard and portal enquiries still arrive as calls, and a WhatsApp-only agent leaves those unanswered after hours.
Phone coverage is covered in more depth in our guide to AI call handling for Australian real estate agencies. Zian’s AI receptionist answers inbound calls 24/7 and its agents follow up on WhatsApp, SMS and email, so one agent covers both enquiry routes.
Which WhatsApp AI agent should I use? Start with who each is wrong for
| Option | Wrong for you if |
|---|---|
| Zian AI | You need to self-serve today at a published price, or you need WhatsApp Calling confirmed before you start |
| LeadsNow.ai | You want to own and tune the agent’s configuration yourself |
| respond.io | You need AI agents on an entry-level plan (they start at the Growth plan) |
| Wati | You want the AI agent and the inbox set up in a single account |
| Infobip | You need a WhatsApp AI voice agent that is generally available rather than in Early Access |
| SleekFlow | You need an AI agent speaking on calls today (its voice calls are in limited release and AI-summarised) |
| Kommo | Your qualification answers must land in custom CRM fields |
If calling on WhatsApp is the deciding factor, read our WhatsApp Calling API setup guide for AI voice agents before the demos, because Meta’s permission rules for business-initiated calls shape what any of these agents can do.
How we chose and ranked: methodology and disclosure
Methodology. On 12 October 2026 we read each vendor’s own product pages, help-centre articles and documentation, searching each vendor’s sitemaps and help centre for calling, voice, template and CRM pages before recording a “Not stated” cell. We read Meta’s pricing documentation through an Internet Archive capture made the same day (developers.facebook.com does not serve the rendered page to our tools) and downloaded Meta’s AUD rate card directly. We used no review sites or competitor comparisons, and ran no paid pilot, so nothing here measures conversation quality or conversion; the 24-Hour Window Test is how you measure those. Vendors qualified only if their own pages showed an AI agent working on WhatsApp for sales tasks. These are the five we compared, not a sweep of the category.
Disclosure. zian.ai publishes this list and appears in it. Zian is ranked first on its published capabilities, and LeadsNow.ai runs on Zian, so we have a commercial interest in both. We have no relationship with respond.io, Wati, Infobip, SleekFlow or Kommo. If a vendor’s pages change, tell us and we will re-check.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best WhatsApp AI agent for sales?
For a team that sells on WhatsApp and also needs phone calls, SMS, email, Instagram and Facebook Messenger covered, our pick is Zian AI, which is in partnership-application beta. LeadsNow.ai is the pick if you want the work done for you. Among WhatsApp-first platforms, respond.io, Wati, SleekFlow, Kommo and Infobip each publish an AI agent that works on WhatsApp; respond.io, Wati and Infobip (in Early Access) also state that their agent answers WhatsApp calls.
Can an AI agent message a lead on WhatsApp after 24 hours?
Only with an approved message template. WhatsApp’s Business Messaging Policy says you may reply without a template “as long as it’s within the 24-hour customer service window, which opens and resets with each user message”, and that outside that window you may only send approved templates. A good agent switches to a template on its own and picks the right category. Source: WhatsApp’s Business Messaging Policy.
Do I need opt-in before my AI agent messages someone on WhatsApp?
Yes. The policy allows contact only if the person has given you their mobile number or username and you have opt-in permission confirming they want messages or calls from you. Meta says the opt-in can be general rather than WhatsApp-specific, as long as it states your business name, makes clear the person is opting in and complies with local law. Source: Meta’s opt-in guidance.
How long does WhatsApp template approval take?
Meta says an approval decision can take up to 24 hours. A rejected template can be edited and resubmitted, or appealed, and Meta says an appeal is decided within 24 hours. Five of the six platforms we compared publish an in-product way to submit templates to Meta. Source: Meta’s template review page.
Can a WhatsApp AI agent answer and make calls?
Some can. respond.io says its AI agents handle inbound WhatsApp and VoIP calls in 30+ languages, Wati documents an Astra voice agent that handles both inbound and outbound WhatsApp calls, and Infobip lists WhatsApp Business Calling as a supported channel for its Voice AI agents, an Early Access feature. Meta requires the user’s permission before a business places a WhatsApp call. Zian’s AI receptionist answers ordinary phone calls 24/7 and places outbound calls, alongside its WhatsApp follow-up.
How much does one WhatsApp sales conversation cost?
On Meta’s AUD rate card effective 1 October 2026, messages to an Australian lead cost A$0.1095 per marketing template and A$0.0148 per utility or charged service message. Our worked example comes to A$0.1391 per lead inside the 1,000 free service messages a month, A$0.3670 with paid service messages and a re-engagement template, and A$0.00 in Meta fees for a Click to WhatsApp ad lead inside the free entry point window.
Is there a WhatsApp AI agent for real estate?
Yes, the same platforms serve agencies, but check three things: that inspection confirmations go out as utility templates rather than marketing, that the agent hands a hot buyer to the listing agent with the conversation attached, and that phone enquiries are answered too. Zian covers inbound calls and WhatsApp follow-up in one agent.
